Tiny Us is a creative charity project dedicated to raising funds for "Présence", an educational institute for young handicapped individuals.

Go to Tiny Us and order Paper doll sets and Paper Dolls cards. When ordering, you choose the amount of money you wish to pay and the entirety of this donation will be given to the school.

The school is located in the south of France in La Seyne sur Mer. The school caters for 85 children, adolescent and young adults between the age of 4 and 20 with different degrees of intellectual disabilities.

I love these cards from Dicky Bird.  Printed on heavy matte paper stock and blank inside- perfect for any occasion. They would look awesome framed!

small draw- Marcus Walters

We love looking into artists' sketchbooks and the UK illustrator Marcus Walters has some great images from his books documenting where his ideas begin. We love his colorful and graphic aesthetic and the way he uses hand cut or hand drawn elements in even his most polished graphic designs.

If you like his work you can pick it up in his shop. He also has a lovely little animation on his website that will remind you why you should make the switch to fair trade products.

Alexander Korzer Robinson 'Where the Revolution was fought'

(The cut book art is made by working through the books, page by page, cutting around some of the illustrations while removing others. The images seen in the finished work, are left standing in the place where they would appear in the complete book. As a final step the book is sealed around the cut, and can no longer be opened.- from the artists statement)

1: The awesome collective 'Doodlers Anonymous' - the home for spontaneous doodle art- has put out their first doodle coloring-in book featuring the work of 29 artists from around the world.  

2: We love Moomah and the work of  their art director Jacqueline Schmidt so we are super excited about the new coloring book they have put out called 'Connect with your Neighbors'. You can read more about Jacquelines diverse practice in our in depth interview here.

3: Since we are talking about independent coloring books we have to do some shameless self promotion and mention the Small Magazine Coloring Book which features the first 12 contributors to the ongoing 'small draw' series in Small. You can also download these drawings individually by clicking on 'small draw' in the tool bar above each issue of Small magazine.

4: One of our favorite illustrators, Adolie Day, is soon going to release her coloring book through the gorgeous French papeterie La Marelle. We can't wait to see it!

Small Paper - Night Owl Paper Goods

Working as the co-editor of Small magazine for the past three years I have seen and met some innovative designers. As a designer myself I know first hand the effort that goes into running a small creative business. The idea of Small Magazine was born out of the frustration trying to get press and find affordable advertising for my small company and realising there were many more small scale designers in the same position as me.
I have been so inspired by the designers and products that we have covered in Small that I am opening up a children's shop called 'Little Bean', here in Dallas (where one half of Small resides!) and also online. Still focusing on handmade and independent design, the shop will feature my collection as well as designers I admire and have met through Small.
One of the first orders I placed for the new shop is from Night Owl Paper Goods. Based out of Birmingham, Alabama, this stationary company creates eco-chic wooden and handmade letterpress cards.
I love the line of wooden "party animal" cards and think they will be a perfect for any birthday boy or girl!

Small Paper - Frazier and Wing

We recently caught up with Heather from Frazier and Wing. We are always looking out for good mobiles here at Small and we have been charmed by her multicolored hangings since we first featured her work in our second issue of Small. Back then she used magazine pages for her creations but her new works are made of stronger papers in controlled color schemes. Her modern, poetic mobiles, hangings and garlands are available on her brand new, and very beautiful, website.
