Spring is just around the corner,
and Polarn O. Pyret USA is busy preparing for the arrival of the Spring
Collection, which is full of fun limited edition landscape prints.
designs have always been very important for Polarn O. Pyret. From the
classic stripe that first saw the light of day as early as 1976, Polarn
O. Pyret has created lots of its own original patterns and prints.
year PO.P is asking its very loyal customer base, especially in our new
US market, to help us choose the pattern that will return from the
archives in 2010. They have selected seven patterns from seven Swedish
designers from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. The pattern receiving
the most votes will make a return to PO.P this year.
us know by the end of the 26th which pattern is your favorite here.
While on a
recent trip to Austin I stumbled upon Spartan, a gift shop owned by Currie
Person, who worked in film production before opening her shop. Spartan is
stocked with a well edited selection of home decor, jewelry, gifts for kids, gifts for him, all focusing on handmade. A few things that caught my eye:
Jesse Kamm Organic
Cotton Onsies, Wool Felted Balls and Bird Mobiles from Nepal, Raw Wood Clock by
Postalco Pocket Notebooks, Colorful Lockets from Trois Petits Points in Paris, Glass
Vases from Spain and a great selection of Handmade Wood Utensils.
Spartan has a great website but if you are in
Austin make it a point to visit. But
give yourself some time to browse the amazing selection and chat a bit with Currie about her new

liaMolly is a sweater collection designed by Seema Sudan, that is deeply rooted in the culture of knitting and inspired by traveling the globe, discovering magical places, studying fashions past and cultures around the world. Seema's children's collection is designed exclusively for Anthropologie and are the most original knit designs we have ever seen. We fell in love with the bold colors spun into flowers, stripes, spots, and plaids. Our faves are the Cozy Posy Sweatercoat, Lil' Pup Cap and the Chickadee Scarf.
liaMolly also has an amazing Woman's collection. For Seema's Fall Collection she payed homage to to the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans, the city that inspires her and where she lives with her family.
Nosheen Iqbal is the artist behind these colorful embroidered wood veneers and panels. She is a London born; Dallas based designer, illustrator and visual artist.Nosheen’s pieces are wood blocked or accented with acrylic paint.
Each one is hand stitched making each artwork one-of-a kind. We can picture these in any child’s room.
We are officially open for business! We have been open for 4 days and have had an amazing response. Today I was lucky to have Silla from Silla Soup bring me a batch of her handmade hair clips and pins. Most of the felt she uses is eco spun, made from recycled post-consumer plastic. The quality of craftsmanship in each piece is fantastic- each little hand stitch is perfect. I love the detail of the small print fabrics layered and topped with hand sewn sequins.
If you are in the Dallas area please join us for our opening party
July 25th from 10am - 7pm. Juice boxes, cookies and champagne (for the
adults!) will be served all day. Free children's portraits by Steven Visneau from 2 - 4 pm. Pizza served from 5 - 6pm.

We made some progress with the shop this week and took down a few walls. The space is being painted white and will hopefully be able to start moving in our clothing racks and display tables next week.
So the newest designer on my list of items I will stock in the shop: Devon Rose! I came across this beautiful handmade children's clothing line on Etsy and and fell in love. I was thrilled to find out that Devon Rose is locally made, right here in Dallas. I contacted Emily, the designer, to find out if if she would be able to sell wholesale and she said yes! Before Emily became a full-time mom/designer, she worked as a women's contemporary sportswear designer in LA. You can also check out her made to order/ready to wear women's collection Payne.
Fine Little Shop: Skirt, dress and mickey mouse braces. Fine Little Shop is the new venture from Elisabeth Dunkar, the talented
designer, photographer and illustrator from Sweden. You can see her photo for the Small photo project here. Belle Heir: One piece suit, two piece play suit and dress. We often incorporate vintage or thrifted items into our stories. You can see Belle Heir worn for a shoot in the Spring issue here. Baby Hank Vintage: Baby sweater, blue leather shoes and yellow bird dress. Etsy has lots of vintage shops and Baby Hank Vintage always has a great collection.
Le Tour de Force is the work of English designer Camille Roman. Her adult designs are sculptural and innovative and she is bringing the same style to a new line of childrens' headbands. Inspired by performance art and manipulating the graphic line her head wear is both intelligently artistic and exuberantly silly. Camille has created some designs just for kids available exclusively at Little Fashion Gallery. Here at Small we are such huge fans of Little Fashion Gallery that we always feature something from their well curated shop in our illustrated fashion editorials.
Aggie Hill is a beautiful on-line shop 'celebrating the spirit of childhood'. The shop is stocked with lines we love like Neige, Caramel Baby, Enchanted Enfant & PEPE Shoes. Here at Small we are huge fans which is why we love to borrow clothing and shoes from their collection for our fashion editorials.
Head on over to Aggie Hill and enter to win a $200 Shopping Spree & Enchanted Enfant Beach Blanket valued at $130. Hurry up! The giveaway ends April 30th!
